Welcome to my website. I’m Josh Markowitz, a photographer and visual storyteller from Westchester County, New York, now based in Washington, DC. I’m currently a junior at American University, where I study Communications and Social Media Marketing while building a career focused on sports, editorial, and marketing photography.
My journey started in high school, when a single class assignment unexpectedly revealed what would become my passion. Since then, I’ve spent years developing my craft across film, digital, studio lighting, and documentary-style coverage. During the school year, I work as a staff photographer for American University Athletics and contribute additional work through campus media.
In addition to my academic studies across media, I have extensive professional experience in the world of sports media. My internship with the New York Mets’ production and creative teams honed my ability to produce high-quality photography and visual storytelling in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. I captured marketing, campaign, and in-game content that was leveraged across social, digital, and print platforms, helping elevate the Mets’ brand through compelling imagery and timely fan engagement.
My professional sports experience also extends to Major League Soccer through my internship with D.C. United, where I supported the club’s photography and creative teams at matches, training sessions, and media days—gaining valuable experience in event production, digital storytelling, and creative coordination.
When I’m not shooting, I’m big on hanging out with friends, watching games (especially soccer), and spending time in the gym. I keep sketching out ideas for future projects, testing new gear, and looking for ways to grow, not just as a photographer, but as a person. I also always get a lot of joy and adrenaline from planning the next shoot or project. I like staying curious, staying honest, and staying hungry for whatever’s next.
Feel free to browse my portfolio and reach out through the contact page for commissions, collaborations, or inquiries. I’d be glad to help bring your project to life.
